w and s control coarse focus (up/down)
e and d control fine focus (up/down)
when you have the character in focus, click the mouse and it will turn red
the "focus" meter is there just to give you a feel for your bounds (to know when focus is changing and when you have reach the extremes)

you must click on the flash movie to give it focus to have the keyboard input be detected
